Though it seems dramatic, cataract surgery itself is often a fairly quick operation. The preparation and recovery, however, can be a challenge. At Friedman Eye Care, we will help you through it with great pre-op cataract care and post-op cataract care. We’ll start by giving you a thorough cataract evaluation to see whether an operation is the correct course of action; these evaluations usually involve dilating your pupils, which can be disorienting. Plan for extra time after an evaluation, and if possible, have someone pick you up afterwards. If surgery is the best course of action, we’ll advise you on the ideal pre-op cataract care, since there are often medicated eye drops to take beforehand, and logistical issues for getting to and from surgery. Again, it’s a good idea to have someone drive you to and from the surgery.
After the operation, careful monitoring is important, since there can often be excessive moisture or dryness as your eyes adjust to the procedure. There will also be bandages to manage, and occasional eye drops to apply. Our informed diagnosticians will assess your progress, resolve any issues, and give you the best possible post-op cataract care. We’ll do our best to make sure your cataract recovery is as smooth as possible.
If you’re experiencing cataract problems, come see us at Friedman Eye Care, and we’ll take care of you. We’ll walk you through an evaluation, give you the best pre-op cataract care and post-op cataract care, and your vision will be better than before!
